Walter S. Garfield

Born in Warmington, Walter served as a Private in the 12th Battalion of the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). He was wounded in 1918.

The Peterborough Advertiser of the 27th April 1918 reads:

“The fourth son of Mr and Mrs Garfield, Warmington, has been wounded and is now in hospital in London. He is one of five brothers serving in France, one being killed last May.”

Walter had a son, Walter James Garfield, who, while serving with the RAF, was killed in action on the 13 September, 1940, aged 25. He is buried in Bergen, Norway.
